cycling chic

i seem to see more and more people riding their bikes to work lately (myself included). perhaps it’s the cost of gas or maybe it’s just the lovely summer weather, but there are a lot of cyclists on the mpls streets.

as i was using the interwebs to research my purchase of a new old cruiser bike (a lovely vintage dunelt 3-speed, thank you very much) and drooling over the lovely wares at bobbin bicycles, i happily stumbled across an entire community dedicated to cycling chic. largely in european cities, they refuse to be part of the “spandex set.” instead, they are all about being fashionable, (mostly) practical and riding their lovely bikes as much as possible.

needless to say, i have been inspired by my new bike and how many people i see cycling chic on the sartorialist, so i’ve been slowing down and sitting more upright on my bike these days (and dressing better while i ride to boot!). see you on the road!
