edward hopper and truro, massachusettes

i have always loved the quiet stillness of edward hopper’s work, particularly his new england landscapes with their beautiful, delicate light. last weekend the new york times ran this great article in the travel section about the particular section of cape cod where hopper spent 40 of his 84 summers and how the landscape has changed. in some cases (like the provincetown methodist church below), the changes have been very minimal. in other instances, there has been a lot of change. there’s a great interactive bit on the subject here. there’s also a fantastic panoramic view from the hopper house.
now i need a vacation……
